Parging refers to the application of a cement coating to a particular surface such as a foundation wall, patio, porches, stairs, etc.

AESTHETICS:

Like a lush green lawn, a newly parged foundation adds a great deal of character to your property and makes it stand out from other homes in your neighborhood.

PROTECTION:

Regardless of the age of your foundation, cracks will inevitably form. If these cracks are not treated, then they will expand over time and lead to more significant problems such as water damage and insect infestations.

Unlike our competitors, we don’t use cheap ready-mixed concrete from hardware stores. Instead, we import our premium materials from across Canada and manually mix them using an industry-leading cement mixer. Our cement is not only more durable than pre-mixed cement, but it also has a nicer finish.

Our Materials: Thick Washed Sand, Portland Cement, High Bond, Laticrete Cement Adhesive Glue, and Clean Water

PREPARATION:

• All lines and bumps are smoothed out
• Nails and tie-rods / snap ties are removed from the foundation.
• Any plastic around the edges of windows is removed.
• We dig below the foundation’s grade along the property’s perimeter
• Dirt is removed using a brush.
• Fibermesh is applied to significant cracks in the foundation
• A special cement is applied to any holes and deep impressions

EXECUTION:

• After letting the ‘patched’ holes dry, the foundation is wet and cement is applied to the foundation.
• Using a special parging sponge, the cement is leveled out and given an artistic texture.
• The site is cleaned

PREPARATION:

• All loose cement is removed
• We dig below the foundation’s grade along the property’s perimeter (if applicable)
• Dirt is removed from both the intact parging and exposed foundation using a brush.
• Fibermesh is applied to significant cracks in the foundation
• A special cement is applied to any cracks, holes, and deep impressions.

EXECUTION:

• After letting the ‘patched’ spots dry, the old parging and exposed foundation are wet and cement is applied to them.
• Using a special parging sponge, the cement is leveled out and given an artistic texture.
• The site is cleaned

Essentially, foundations are wet in order to remove dirt and sand. If they are not removed from the foundation, then the parging will not cure properly. In other words, the parging will crack or flake in the future.

Ideally, good parging will last a couple of decades; however, its durability depends on: the age of the foundation, the quality of the materials used, and the experience level of the team applying it.
